Where are the bests sunsets in Gran Canaria?

As one of the most western points, Gran Canaria also serves up some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. However, not just any place is a good spot to watch the sun set. Where should visitors set up camp for it on Gran Canaria?

Andén Verde Viewpoint (La Aldea de San Nicolás)

Access to this gorge was gained along the dangerous steep cliffs by daring orchilleros, peasant shepherds who used to extract the valuable lichen (the raw material used in fabric dye) from the orchilla plant growing here; and especially, seamen who would make their way down through here to the coves and beaches in search of traditional fish and seafood.

This spectacular viewpoint is in the far west of Gran Canaria and hangs over the sea with spectacular views out over the Atlantic Ocean and the Teide on the neighbouring island of Tenerife. From the viewpoint, you get a clear view of a zigzag wall of sea cliffs called the “Dragon’s Tail”. The views are so impressive that you won’t want to leave until you’ve taken in the full range of sights and colours and the scent of the ocean.

Patalavaca (Arguineguín - Mogán)

Another of the best sunsets in Gran Canaria lies in Patalavaca, in the southwest of the island. It is one of the most privileged areas in the world with an average temperature of 20 degrees throughout the year, as it is free of winds and with a calm that gives the municipality of Mogán its fame as one of the places with the best climate in the world.

Here you can see the Teide in the background and the beautiful island heart of Anfi del Mar, a paradise in the middle of a tourist enclave. The beautiful promenade of Aguamarina will leave you an unforgettable mark on your memory.

Maspalomas (San Bartolomé de Tirajana)

And finally, there is nothing better than watching the sunset on the island with the Maspalomas Dunes in the background, a true natural monument. Watching the sun sets over this golden sand ocean is an amazing experience that will undoubtedly captivate you.

Whether you’re sitting on a sand dune with the lighthouse silhouetted by the sunset or walking under the palm trees on Boulevard Faro, Maspalomas gets breathtaking sunsets almost every night. One of the best spots is the first set of dunes by the Charco de Maspalomas lagoon.
